Port Eliot Literary Festival! 22 July 2009

Kieran and Windom are delighted playing the Telltales tent at the Port Eliot Literary Festival this weekend, thanks to friends of The Fund profwriting.com.

They'll be taking to the stage on Saturday 25th July at 3pm (ish. Port Eliot might be 50% literary, but it's still 50% festival, so times should be taken with a pinch of salt. And some Wellington boots.)

Did I hear you say 4-track split EP?! 24 February 2009

At the end of last summer Kieran headed up to Manchester for a frantic forty-eight hours of lo-fi antics, hosted by friend of the Fund, songwriter extraordinaire and king of desirable tape-hiss, Yossarian.

The rather wonderful upshots are as follows:
1. There's soon going to be a limited edition, 4 track (in every glorious sense), split EP.
2. It's coming out on shiny vinyl courtesy of the splendid slick-nine records, and will be clothed in lovingly handmade fabric sleeves.
3. The Fund and Yossarian will to be playing some joint gigs in celebration, covering all of England's most important metropolises, specifically London and Falmouth.

Check the shows section for details.

A message from the chairman 17 January 2009

The Black Maria Memorial Fund been a little quiet of late. Sorry about that.

I'm now a student by the sea, where things like coursework, knitting and friend-making have been quietly gnawing away at The Fund's resources. Windom's been a little distracted by his new surroundings as well - since October he's lost one whole month to wistful contemplation of the local scenery, and two more to wistful contemplation of the local ale.

Happily we've both now come to our senses; at The Fund's coastal outpost, new songs are glowing in the forge.

Equally excitingly, there's a pretty imminent new release ... more details very soon indeed.

Yours, Kieran

Yes, the wandering minstrels have wandered back into the country, with empty pockets and full hearts.

Kieran and Windom were genuinely floored by the kindness of everyone they met, but once again are most indebted to Professor Wya and his family.

A few holiday photos can be found below (thank you Stan and Tian):

Kieran would like to write a definitive account of their adventures, but at the moment is busy composing the next record, his first novel and letters in grammatically unfettered French.

Gigs will also be happening. Soon :)

New album, new website, new country 21 April 2008

So, here goes, The Black Maria Memorial Fund ... Nails Down A Blackbird for it's new album, which is exclusively available as a download, and to coincide, there's a new website.

We hope you like it, it's not the only thing that's changing round here. Kieran has disappeared off to France to take The Fund's work to an international audience.

He should hopefully be playing some shows (while imbibing large quantities of wine) and if we get word in advance, it'll be documented here.

Enjoy the new site, and obviously more importantly enjoy the new album. Which you can get in full here.
